1997 | 1998 | 1999 | 2000 | 2001 | 2002 | 2003 | 2004 This site brings back a lot of memories for me, this is great!! I am a norwegian girl studying in the UK at the moment, but I lived in Maplewood from August of '95 to August of '96. I was an AuPair with the Leyh family in Harvard Avenue. I know that they have now moved down to Virginia. But that year, so far, is the best year of my life. So easy going in to New York, I think I almost went in there every other day. It was great. I also fell in love with Maplewood, a very nice village with so many nice people. Anyway, that year was great, and I would like to say hei to everybody (well, anyway those who remember me. I don't know how many that will be). Maplewood is a great place to live!!!!! Vibeke Jonassen <vjonassen@hotmail.com> The UK - Friday, November 26, 1999 at 19:15:50 (EST) Hello, Jamie! Great site. Looks like so many people visiting are as truly impressed as I am. I got chills reading the comments of all the same memories I had growing up - the same memories from all generations. I'm happy to say my parents and 2 siblings are still there so I can "come back" often. Now there is one more HUETZ in Maplewood - Brother JOHN and sister-n-law SHARON (BRADY) introduced CLAIRE ELIZABETH to the world this past Saturday, November 6, at the same time brother JOE was passing the 16-mile mark in the NY MARATHON. I guess the Class of 1985 will have a 15 reunion soon? Tom Huetz <thuetz@earthlink.net> Mount Tabor, NJ USA - Friday, November 12, 1999 at 08:32:42 (EST) Great website....But where is everyone from the class of l954? I grew up in South Orange, but spent a lot of time in Maplewood. Living so far away, I don't get back there anymore... it's a nostalgic experience seeing the old stomping ground.P.S. Please send a detailed explanation of the meaning of "delicatessen" to the Utah State Legislature. For that matter, send one to all points west of Florham Park. Ernest (Bud) Fischer <bud@interspan.com> Brian Head, UT USA - Friday, October 15, 1999 at 16:06:24 (EDT) Tuscan Elementary School is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this school year. As part of our celebration, we are planning activities and events that will include past graduates of Tuscan. Our goal is to includeformer students from each of the eight decades of this school's rich history. (Did you know that Maplewood still has a resident who started Kindergarten at Tuscan the year it opened!) We're also interested in finding old class directories, class pictures and other memorabilia. If you, your parents, or your grandparents attended or taught at Tuscan School before 1985, we want to be in contact with you. (Lots of you who graduated after 85 are still here!) We hope you'll share your memories and thoughts about the time that you spent at Tuscan and what was going on in Maplewood (and the world) at that time. We would also like to invite you to a very special event currently being planned. Won't you please help us by calling David Huemer at 973-763-7793 or by dropping anote to Deborah Trumper, 75th Anniversary Committee, 59 Harvard Ave. Maplewood, NJ 07040. Let us know a current name, address, phone and years attended.Happy 75th Tuscan! 75th Anniversary Committee Tuscanmom USA - Thursday, October 07, 1999 at 10:53:59 (EDT) I grew up in Maplewood and have such wonderful memories. Went to Seth Boyden, Maplewood Jr. High, and Columbia High School until we moved away in my freshman year. They were the best years, remembering Ice Skating in Maplecrest Park and dances in DeHart Part and just getting together with a bunch of friends. It was the easy years where you never had to worry about a thing. I would have graduated in 1961 and often try to find old friends. I am still friends with a lot of the kids but would like to try and find a few more. Alan Flag, Richard Desimone, and Daniel Minetti. Anyone know where they are? I love the web site and will come back to it over and over, especially to CHS alumni page. Wish there was one for Maplewood Junior High. It takes a lot of work to create a site as nice as this one is and so accurately reflect the spirit of the town. Likewise, it takes a lot of work to build and maintain a town like Maplewood. The diversity of those who have found ways to work together to make Maplewood "happen" can be proud...just as I am when I say that my hometown is Maplewood, New Jersey. My Mother was raised in Maplewood, growing up on Burnett St.and, a generation later, I found myself in the same house, in the same elementary school, with the same woman who taught my mother in first grade as my Kindergarten teacher!Later, I walked the same halls of Maplewood Junior High and then Columbia (Classof '68). And I wasn't the only one whose roots were well sunk into Maplewood's soil. Oh, how the memories come rushing back like a high tide sweeping over stand-still rocks! They're good memories, cherished memories. In owning my past, there's a certain warmth to be enjoyed when reflecting on those near-care-free days in Maplewood. Thanks for finding such a wonderful way of evoking those recollections, those faces, those days! Bob Lee <tahoe16_98@yahoo.com> Germantown, MMMMd USA - Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at 17:45:14 (EDT) Seth Boyden, Maplewood Junior High (back then), Columbia '63. A favorite memory: that funny branch library at Springfield (and Boyden?) Avenue(s), upstairs from the firehouse. My mother took me there when I first began to read and said I could take home as many books as I wanted--what a thrill! A few years ago I found Ann Sloan Schumacher, my fifth grade teacher, and visited her (she's still a ball of fire; my kids loved her) and her husband. We exchange Christmas greetings; in a card a couple of years ago she wrote, "Enjoy your youth!" (I'm 53!) Well, maplewood has it all something for everyone especially familys. with two little girls (age 6 months and 2 1/2 yrs) that was important. maplewood is growing by leaps and bounds already on my block we are no longer the new family. three homes have just been sold this past month. well, just wanted to say we are very glad to be here and are looking forward to meeting new friends. dawn hughes <dawnhughes@bigplanet.com> maplewood, nj USA - Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at 16:46:23 (EDT) Hi i'm a 6Th grader at MMS and I Have a comment Even though I don't drive i think there is a lack of parking spots David Rublin <Wedge121@aol.com> Maplewood, nj USA - Saturday, April 10, 1999 at 16:52:03 (EDT) What a great treat to see this. We lived in Maplewood from 1952 to 1959 at 8 East Cedar Lane. I went to Jefferson and Maplewood Jr. High. Would have graduated Columbia in 1963 but we moved to Hawaii in 1959 (just before statehood). Drove through Maplewood on a trip in 1968 and it seems it hadn't changed much since '59. I imagine I wouldn't recognize the town today. I'll have to make returning for a quick trip a priority.
