1997 | 1998 | 1999 | 2000 | 2001 | 2002 | 2003 | 2004 We lived in maplewood for 15 years and then moved to Stirling, NJ for greener pastures. What we realized after less than 2 years was that Maplewood has more to offer than any other place. So we moved back three years ago and could not be more happy.I am a local home inspector and love working with new home buyers in Maplewood. Ernie & Peggy Borsellino <allprohome@home.com> Maplewood, NJ USA - Thursday, December 31, 1998 at 11:39:06 (EST) I'm thrilled. I just had the best tour through memory lane. I finally got to share Maplewood with my husband, as we browsed from one end of this website to the other. I have nothing but the absolute best memories of Maplewood. It was the greatest place to grow up. I'm just sorry that my family no longer lives there so that I could visit regularly. I went to Fielding Elementary, MJH and CHS. My dad was a biology teacher there for 30 years...Carroll Brooks. Anyone out there with any memories of him, please E-mail me. It would tickle him to death. Thanks for making a web-site that Maplewood Lovers can be proud of. I grew up in Maplewood and graduated from Columbia H.S. in 1983. I am a police officer in Los Angeles where the new policing strategy is called Community Oriented Policing, which was always in affect in Maplewood. Looking at the current photos I can see the police department still keeps up its community policing. Keep up the great work on your web site. We went to visit your town about a month ago and fell inlove with it. Yvette Aguayo <yaguayo@icon.com> Jersey CIty, NJ USA - Saturday, December 12, 1998 at 19:51:26 (EST) Greetings, all! Thought I'd say hi to the old home town. I'm a Clinton School, SOJH, CHS (class of '73) man. I've been living in San Francisco for 12 years and I enjoy it, but I definitely think of the old town frequently and love to pass through when I'm back East. I was a little sad to read the conservative comments regarding dress codes, etc. at Columbia. The early 70's there were another story, entirely, and I think the freedom we experienced then fostered some amazing creativity and allowed us to find self reliance and a flexibility that has helped us greatly through the changing times we've passed through since. I'd be happy to hear from any Cougars of that era who might remember me. Anybody know where Art Pomerantz has gotten himself to? That's one fellow I'd love to track down. Jerry Karp <RocketJK@prodigy.net> San Francisco, CA USA - Thursday, December 03, 1998 at 22:08:01 (EST) This web site is wonderful! I lived here from age 2 to 11 and returned as an adult-bought a house here 2 1/2 years ago and married here last year. It was a great place to live as a child and is still a great place to live as an adult. Richard <zeppo18@aol.com> USA - Sunday, May 17, 1998 at 17:06:45 (EDT) I couldn't believe it! Right in the middle of researching "community networks"; Maplewood. I grew up in this wonderful town. From Jefferson School to MJHS, and CHS, I received the education which opened the doors to a wonderful career. My father is a retired Captain of the Maplewood Fire Department and now lives with my mom in S. Jersey. My brothers, sisters and I all eventually left Maplewood, but we still often talk about growing up there. I wish that my children had the fortune of growing up in a town like Maplewood! Thanks! Frank W. Massa <frankwm1@ix.netcom.com> San Jose, CA USA - Monday, May 11, 1998 at 21:45:33 (EDT) The Maplewood On-Line Web Site brought back many memories of growing up in Maplewood. I lived in Maplewood from 1969 to 1979 although my family remained here until 1982.My fondest memories of growing up in such a wonderful town include ice skating in Maplecrest Park (do they still do that), and walking down to the Village with my friends on Saturdayafternoons to go the movies and Baskin Robbins. I graduated from St. Joseph's School in1974 and went to 9th grade at Maplewood Junior High and then transferred to Archbishop WalshH.S. in Irvington. I don't get to visit Maplewood too much anymore, but when I do, I always drive by the old neighborhood and reminisce. If there's anybody out there who remembers meor my sister Sue, please e-mail--would love to hear from you. Donna (Henry) Curtis <dmcurtis@bellatlantic.net> Lanoka Harbor, NJ USA - Tuesday, April 28, 1998 at 13:38:10 (EDT) The Fort Worth area is hot and flat and almost treeless which led me to believe that my memories of Maplewood were through rose colored glasses, I'm happy I was wrong! I miss the town and the people. CHS '77. pamarino@juno.com Paul Marino <pamarino@juno.com> Benbrook , Tx USA - Saturday, February 28, 1998 at 23:18:45 (EST) Don't turn Maplewood into a tourist trap! Ever since the train could go into New York in 20 minutes Maplewood has attracted rich people from out of state who have pushed up property prices and have turned Maplewood village into a yuppified shopping center. Let's keep maplewood a small town and not just a commuter stop for New Yorkers!!! A USA - Thursday, February 19, 1998 at 10:34:41 (EST) What a great site. It made me very nostalgic, and very homesick, all at the same time.I left in 1985, but return often to visit my folks. It still makes me feel good when I drive back into town. Sometimes I just drive around and remember all the good times growing up and living in Maplewood. I'd probably still be there, if it weren't for my love of the beach! If I had to leave, it was going to be for the shore! If anyone recognizes the name, pleae feel free to email me to touch base and catch up.Chris BoninFormer Burnet St. ResidentFormer Member, Maplewood First Aid SquadCHS '78Longhorn Saloon 12 oz Curl, Masters Division '82 Chris Bonin <cbonin@mitre.org> Neptune City, NJ USA - Wednesday, February 18, 1998 at 12:00:18 (EST) Maybe it was just part of a child's life growing up in the 50s, but my memories of Maplewood are of a life thatcan't be found today. I walked to Jefferson School, MaplewoodJunior High School, and Columbia HS (class of '61), something we wouldn't think of letting our children do today. I'd love to hear from any '61 CHS grads who arecomputer-literate enough to reach this web site! Thomas E. McEntee <tmcentee@mitre.org> Leesburg, VA USA - Wednesday, February 18, 1998 at 07:21:04 (EST) My family lived on Hickory Drive from 1970 until 1989. I graduated from Columbia in '89 but have heard that the town has changed. Of course Maplewood is one of the most beautiful towns in America, however, talking to old friends I have realized that many people have moved in from out of state only for the easy access into New York. However, Maplewood is still an immaculate town with great people! Mark Townsend <puzzler@ix.netcon.com> Seattle, WA USA - Tuesday, February 17, 1998 at 17:27:00 (EST) Maplewood will always be my "home". I moved away six years ago, but return every three months to visit family and friends. Each time I walk with my young daughter through the streets, it brings back great memories. Maplewood has the charm of a small town and the benefits of a nearby city. This website is a great remedy for my between vists home sickness. Warren (Bill) Lombardy <GGSWWL1@IAG.NET> Ocoee, FL USA - Friday, February 13, 1998 at 22:58:39 (EST) This is an impressive web page for an impressive community. I loved growing up in Maplewood and still miss it dearly. The pictures of Memorial Park, and its bridge and duck pond bring back the fondest of memories. Betina Haueisen <bhaueise@elevator.de> muenster, germany - Thursday, January 22, 1998 at 12:06:40 (EST) Thanks for the great sight! I only wish there were more pictures. I grew up in Maplewood, but moved in 1980. I went to Jefferson, Maplewood Junior High, and Columbia High School (1978). My family and I lived on Ridgewood Terrace. I have very fond memories of growing up in Maplewood. I haven't been back for many years and this sight has made me feel very nostalgic! Maybe I'll decide to attend my 20 year class reunion!!! TKS Margaret Jackson <MBJdean@AOL.com> Naples, FL USA - Saturday, January 03, 1998 at 20:15:50 (EST) This is the first town we moved to from the Philippines so it was my first taste of America. And what a taste it was! My three elder sisters and my brother graduated from CHS, but I only reached theend of my MMS years before we had to move. What I didn't know was how blessed I was to have lived in such a treasuredtown. Unfortunately, I wish I had known that then. I made many friends in the town and I still go to my dentistonce in awhile, luckily located in the village. My shool day memories are still vivid in the backdrops of Maplewood. Someday, I hope to reunite with Maplewood's atmosphere as a resident again. Erickson Palomares <rixon@bu.edu> Wayne, NJ USA - Thursday, January 01, 1998 at 04:51:30 (EST) |
