The Irish Origins of Halloween
Date: October 25th, 2009
Time: 1:00pm
Information: Bring the family to this delightful 2:30 p.m. one-man performance of haunting 18th century music and traditional stories that reveal the Celtic roots of Halloween. Robert Mouland portrays Michael Keane, a real historical figure who came to America in 1754 as harper to the Royal Governor of North Carolina. He uses his copy of the 17th century Sirr wirestrung Irish harp, a baroque violin from c.1760, a baroque flute c.1790, an English guitar c.1770, and reproduction union pipes. Also, throughout the afternoon visitors of all ages can play “snap apple” and fortune telling games and enjoy a cup of fresh pressed cider. The Country Store will be open for holiday shopping.
