Aboriginal art inspired
by April the turtle,
K thru 5th grade

is a place where children can create art, be inspired by famous and emerging artists' work, experiment with different medium and have fun, in a relaxed and professional studio environment.

Students will learn a combination of basic drawing skills and techniques, since drawing is the foundation for all visual art. Basic art skills will be inspired by brief introductions of famous (and not so famous) artists' lives and their work. An emphasis will be placed on personal exploration and creative growth, in a supportive atmosphere.

has group shows of student artwork. Family members are invited to enjoy the gallery exhibition. Parent communication is encouraged and always welcome.

is an idea created by Susan Cohen-Harris, illustrator and painter, who is a professionally published illustrator, painter, and graphic designer. B.F.A., Kansas City Art Institute. Continuing education classes: Parsons, School of Visual Arts, and Pratt Institute.

promotes problem solving, has extremely small classes, is noncompetitive, and supports varied learning styles.

Summer Camp at Art Studio will give children a chance to develop their individual art skills, talent, and most importantly, their imagination. We will create projects that incorporate nature for plenty of outdoor time and acquaint ourselves with a variety of indigenous cultures. For returning and new campers, Northern Native cultures await. Projects can include painting and decorating Inuit Totem Poles or Paper Mache Kachina Dolls. Take part in a Hopi dance party. Paper Mache masks or bowls inspired by the artifacts from ancient Central and South American cultures can be chosen or revisited. Have a mid - morning snack in a tree house, feed our pet turtle or toss a ball...
